"Steganos" is in the Works
By zent3600
Welcome,
Recently I've been working on a Steganography project in my spare time.
If you don't know what Steganography is, it's basically a way to hide information in an unsuspectable place, say for example an image.
Quoting wikipedia:
"Steganography is the practice of concealing a file, message, image, or video within another file, message, image, or video...
...The advantage of steganography over cryptography alone is that the intended secret message does not attract attention to itself as an object of scrutiny..."
> Wikipedia
The project is called Steganos and is based on this example I just made. It takes some text as an input and spits out an image with the encrypted text cyphered in. The current build has 2 very distinct modes:
-
Blatant mode: This mode doesn't really care if the image is suspect or not. It spits out images consisting of a black background and a lot of colourful pixel
-
Stegano mode: This mode is much more subtle. It takes not only some text as an input, but also a base image. The base image will be slightly modified so that the image is almost identical as the original but the text is still hidden in there. The only setback is that stegano mode allows much smaller text
Before releasing the full project, I plan on adding a simple GUI and some settings to make the program more usable.
Stay tuned for some more updates in the near future.
Anyway, this is all for now, cya.
